My name is Joanna. I’m an Army spouse, a mother, a grandmother—and now I’m adding something new to that list: beginner online entrepreneur.
I’m starting this blog because I’ve decided to learn how to build an online business using affiliate marketing. I’m very much at the beginning of this journey, and I want to be clear about that from the start.
I’m not an affiliate marketing expert. I don’t have a big success story to share with you yet. I’m learning, taking things one step at a time, and figuring out what works.
That is exactly why I decided to start writing about my journey.
There are probably plenty of other people wondering whether they can create an online business without being a technology expert or knowing everything about online marketing. I hope that by documenting what I learn—the successes, challenges, mistakes, and lessons—I can help someone else who is thinking about getting started.
Why I Chose Affiliate Marketing
One of the things that attracted me to affiliate marketing is its simplicity.
With affiliate marketing, I don’t have to create my own product from scratch. Instead, I can recommend products, services, or programs created by other businesses and potentially earn a commission when someone purchases through my affiliate link.
I’m getting started with ClickBank affiliate marketing, which gives affiliates access to many different digital products you can choose to promote.
But I’m also learning that affiliate marketing involves much more than simply finding a product, grabbing an affiliate link, and posting it everywhere.
You still need to learn how to reach the right people, provide useful information, build trust, and give people a reason to pay attention to what you are sharing.
That brings me to one of the most important lessons I have learned so far.
Why Building an Email List Matters
When I first started learning about affiliate marketing, it would have been easy to think that the goal was simply to send as many people as possible directly to an affiliate offer.
Someone clicks my link, visits the offer, and hopefully buys.
But what happens if they don’t buy?
In many cases, they leave—and I have no way to follow up with them.
That helped me understand why experienced online marketers talk so much about building an email list.
An email list gives me an asset that I can build over time and have more control over.
Instead of constantly trying to find a new person to click an affiliate link, I can work on building an audience of people who have chosen to hear from me.
That gives me the opportunity to stay in touch, share helpful information, talk about what I’m learning, and occasionally introduce products or resources that I believe may be useful.
I like the idea of building something for the long term instead of simply sending traffic straight to offers and losing the opportunity to follow up.
Why I Joined The ClickBank Profit Club
As a beginner, one of my biggest challenges has been figuring out where to start.
There is certainly no shortage of information online about affiliate marketing.
In fact, sometimes there is too much information.
Watch one video and someone tells you to do one thing. Watch another and you may hear something completely different. Before long, it can become overwhelming.
That is one reason I decided to join The ClickBank Profit Club.
What appealed to me was having a more structured starting point.
The program provides training, a setup process, follow-up emails, and a path that I can follow as I learn more about promoting ClickBank products and building an email list.
I also like the idea of being able to build my own list while learning how to promote a system that is already established.
I want to be very clear about something, though.
I do not consider this a get-rich-quick opportunity.
I understand that joining a program doesn’t magically create an online business. There is still work involved.
I have to learn. I have to take action. I have to create content, attract visitors, build my list, test different ideas, and stay consistent.
There are no guarantees about what results I will achieve.
But as a beginner, I finally feel like I have a clearer starting point instead of trying to put all the pieces together by myself.
And right now, that is valuable to me.
What I’ll Be Doing Next
My plan is to keep learning and document the process here on my blog.
I want to share what I discover about affiliate marketing, ClickBank, email list building, getting traffic, creating content, and the other pieces involved in building an online business.
Some things will probably work better than others.
I expect to make mistakes along the way. That’s part of learning something new.
When I discover something useful, I’ll share it. When something confuses me, I may write about that too. And when I learn a lesson from something that doesn’t work as expected, I’ll share that lesson as well.
My goal isn’t to present myself as someone who already has all the answers.
My goal is to show you what the journey looks like while I’m actually going through it.
If you’re also starting an online business—or you’ve been thinking about affiliate marketing—I hope you’ll follow along.
We can learn together.
